The aim of this thesis is to design and analyse a single-sided linear induction motor (SLIM) for educational purposes. The main goal of this thesis is to create a simple functional linear induction motor, rather than a highly complex and costly one. The efficiency of these designs created will be carefully examined while using various materials for the rotor (reaction plate), and 3-phase winding in the stator. Many important parameters will be taken in account to enable a relationship between the force produced with these parameters. The experimental measured force is then compared to the calculated theoretical force. Any discrepancies between the values will be justified for.
